How to Find a Trustworthy Tradesperson

It can be hard to know who to trust when it comes to hiring someone to work on your home. Most of us have either experienced, or heard stories about, trades who don’t show up, quote one price and charge another, or do a job that’s rushed and careless. And when you’re spending your hard-earned money, you deserve better than that.
So how do you find someone reliable?
Start by looking for a local. A tradesperson who lives and works in your area is far more likely to care about their reputation and the quality of their work. Ask around, word of mouth is powerful. If a friend, neighbour, or family member has had a great experience, that recommendation is worth its weight in gold.
Check for signs of professionalism: clear communication, transparent pricing, and a willingness to explain things in plain language. You should never feel pressured or confused about what you’re getting.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Are they licensed and insured? Do they guarantee their work? Can they provide examples of past jobs? A good tradie won’t be put off, they’ll respect that you want to make an informed decision.
At Coastlife Services, we believe trust is built over time. We’re locals too, and we’re building our business on the idea that every job should be done properly, with care and consistency. We’re starting small, just offering services we can personally deliver, and growing steadily from there. It’s about doing right by our clients, one job at a time.
Want to chat about a job or ask us a few questions? We’re always happy to talk things through with no pressure.
